I think cdrtools supports DVD-R(W). I've got a DVD+R(W) that works well with dvd+rw-tools. I use dvdbackup to rip the DVD. Unfortunately, as far as I know, we're without a native app that can convert DVD9 to DVD5. I've heard people having luck with dvdshrink and wine, but it doesn't work with my wine install since I use a slightly older version of wine with a bunch of dlls for Kazaa Lite.
I'd really advise waiting until next year when philips releases the 8.5GB DVD+R drives. I don't know if dvd+rw-tools will be able to support it right away, though. _________________ "we should make it a law that all geeks have dates" - Linus |
