I just re-installed Gentoo1.4rc2 after having installed EvilEntity last week. I had to re-install to upgrade Gentoo from 1.2 to 1.4 since the gcc had changed.
The problem is that the Gentoo partition is invisible from the other distro's partitions even when mounted. I can see the EvilEntity in Redhat and I can see Redhat in EvilEntity. I can see WinXp in both. When I run "mount /dev/hdb6 /mnt/Gentoo" it says it is already mounted. And the Webadmin in EvilEntity shows it being mounted. But nothing shows up under /mnt/Gentoo. I have tried "ls -a" from that directory also. I have installed EvilEntity with a reiserfs file system and RedHat uses ext3.
My etc/fstab in RedHat is configured this way to mount the partitions:
/dev/hdb5 /mnt/EvilEntity reiserfs defaults 0 0
/dev/hdb6 /mnt/Gentoo reiserfs defaults 0 0
I think it may be a permission thing and have chmod 'd the /mnt/Gentoo partition. But the thing is, it is invisible even when I'm root. Gentoo will show the other two partitions. I have checked Gentoo forums, searched the JustLinux forums, Googled, and even read the manual. No luck so far.

From 1.2 to 1.4 there were a lot of major updates to core components of the system, the upgrade path is quite a tricky one.
hardlythere: what do you get when you type "mount"? |

I'm in the process of re-installing now. When I would type "mount /dev/hdb6 /mnt/gentoo" the response was ".....already mounted or device is busy". I figure it was something with the permissions set when I first configured my installation. So I'm reinstalling since I wanted to add some modules and some of the use flags I left out before anyway.
Thanks for the responses> |
