I need to use a Linux server at work
first usage will be as file server
is gentoo good enough to be used as a production server in a company
or should I use RH8.0

Runing gentoo server in the company without any problems. gentoo is great for ANY task. |

i need to install ABAS ERP on it which is developed on RH8 so they suggest to use RH8 to me
they told me its possible to use any linux but they just are afraid of any non RH8
! |

ah and that I have a gentoo server at home and now gentoo on my notebook I like to use gentoo for a production server too! |

just some technical stuff
I plan to use
1) ABAS Database
2) Samba2(3) Fileserver
this with a dual Opteron 4G ram and sata raid 10
what do you think ? |

Gentoo is way better than RedHat, I use it for production servers that run Firebird SQL and they run rock solid 24X7 and have never had OS issues with them, and updating is super simple with portage. |
