problems with dm-crypt on startup [SOLVED}

I followed this guide to encrypt my home partition.

I created my encrypted partition and can unlock it and mount it just fine. My problem is on boot when I enter my passphrase, any key I press is like hitting enter.
I can't enter my passphrase it's like I'm hitting return for every key.

I appreciate any help you can give me and also open to other suggestions on how to encrypt my home partition.

Edit: I solved this problem by unmerging plymouth splash.
